With her debut album, Andersson Funeral Home, Dottie Andersson, a Swedish songwriter from Småland, fully steps into a world of her own making - one where grief, memory and healing are treated equally.

For Andersson, the funeral home becomes a metaphor for emotional processing and closure - the place where feelings are handled with care rather than suppressed. “When someone suddenly leaves your life, it’s unnatural to just erase them, pretend they were never there” she explains. “They stay in your heart for a while. There, they’re taken care of, grieved, forgiven, hated, loved. The heart becomes a kind of funeral home. Eventually, when time finally allows, the feeling is buried - not bitterly, but gratefully. Only in this way, there is a possibility to move on.”

Set for release on September 4 via Royal Mountain Records, the songs on Andersson Funeral Home are confident in both their darkness and clarity. It was written, produced, recorded and mixed by Andersson and British producer and multi-instrumentalist Ben Jackson-Cook, handmade with no samples used. The duo have an instinct for contrast: sharp melodic sensibility collides with raw textures, rhythms and atypical production choices across 13 tracks of sensitive but exciting indie-pop. Throughout the album, Andersson’s background as a drummer becomes increasingly apparent - not through technical excess, but through the arrangements and drum sounds themselves.

Andersson Funeral Home is not a debut album searching for identity. It’s the arrival of one fully formed, brimming with confidence.
